Kenyan artist Coster Ojwang delivers a deeply emotional Afro-Pop / Folk song titled “Anyango,” the opening track from his five-song EP Mbak Ndalo.

Released on August 22, 2025, “Anyango” has become one of Coster Ojwang’s standout songs, gaining strong attention among listeners and reaching #5 on the WAKILISHA charts. Written mainly in Dholuo, the song carries a personal and cultural depth that connects strongly with the Luo music audience.
“Anyango” is a heartfelt tribute to Coster Ojwang’s late mother, using her name to express grief, remembrance, and the painful reality of losing someone deeply loved. The lyrics reflect on the shortness of life, the weight of mourning, and the memories that remain after loss, giving the song the feeling of both a prayer and a soulful dirge.
The track was produced by Ian Stephen Owiti and features rich live instrumentation, including saxophone by Rick Miruka Otieno, guitars by Edwin Oloo Sulle, and percussion by Clinton Onyango.
