Early life
Raised in New Jersey, Byer relocated to New York City during the early 2000s and supported herself as a waitress for a restaurant and cabaret club. Eventually, her humorous disposition prompted her to delve into improv, as she recalls, “They used to pay me a lot of money because they’d say, ‘You’re very funny. You have to get out of here. You’re very bad at this [waiting tables].'” Byer faced the tragedy of losing both parents at a young age – her mother passed away when she was a teenager in high school, and her father when she was 21.
