Top 10 richest and most Valuable companies in Kenya 2022

Safaricom PLC maintained its top position as the most valuable brand, valued at KSh 81.4 billion in 2022 Equity Bank came in second place with a brand value of KSh 29.03 billion and an AAA+ brand rating.

The Kenya top 20, 2022 ranking report noted that top brands leverage technology in their service delivery Safaricom and Equity bank emerged top due to a variety of services they offer to their customers.

Safaricom and Equity Bank have emerged top among the most valuable brands in Kenya, disrupting using technology in 2022. Safaricom remained top as Kenya’s most valuable brand, leading at $689 million (KSh 81.4 billion).

  4. East Africa Breweries Limited, Kenya. EABL is the richest manufacturing company in Kenya in 2022.
  5. Cooperative Bank of Kenya.
  6. Standard Chartered Bank of Kenya.
  7. Kenya Airways Ltd.
  8. Northstar Cooling Systems, Kenya.
  9. British American Tobacco (BAT) Kenya, Ltd. And finally on the list,
  10. Barclay’s Bank of Kenya.

The report dubbed Kenya 20 2022 ranking and released by Brand Finance showed that Safaricom’s brand value increased by 38%, attributed to the variety of services the telco offers.

“A boost in mobile data usage is enabling Safaricom to achieve growth in the Kenyan market, by democratising access to mobile data with its relatively low price point for high data usage offers,” read the report in part.

Safaricom also got a boost from its mobile money service M-Pesa, which was valued at $245.6 million (KSh 29.03 billion). The M-Pesa services recorded KSh 50 billion in gross profit for the year ending March 2022.

Equity Bank was ranked number two on the list, valued at $388 million (KSh 45.9 billion) with an AAA+ rating. The bank’s brand value grew at 92%, with the brand strength index scoring 90.8%. The report attributed the growth to the lenders’ utilization of online banking supported by the EazzyNet mobile application.

In May 2022, the lender recorded growth in net revenue from KSh 8.6 billion to KSh 11.4 billion in the first quarter of 2022. The report revealed that Kenyan brands achieved value growth of 72% on the year as they kept abreast of the trends in technology.
