Released on August 22, 2025, “Nyiego” appears as the fifth and closing track on Mbak Ndalo. The title translates from Dholuo as “Jealousy,” setting the tone for a reflective song that explores envy, social tension, and the strength to rise above negative energy.
Musically, “Nyiego” blends traditional Luo storytelling with a modern jazz-influenced Afro-Folk sound. The track is built around rich acoustic instrumentation, featuring guitar work by Edwin Oloo Sulle, percussion by Clinton Onyango, and a standout saxophone performance by Rick Miruka Otieno, also known as Ricky Otieno.
The song was produced by Ian Stephen Owiti, with mixing and mastering by Tawala Beats. Through its mellow mood, deep cultural feel, and contemporary arrangement, “Nyiego” reflects Coster Ojwang’s ability to connect Luo roots, Ohangla-inspired influences, and modern African soul into one expressive sound.
