Mayorkun—born Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel on March 23, 1994—is one of Nigeria’s most vibrant voices in Afrobeats and Afropop. His rise to fame is the stuff of modern music legend: in 2016, a simple online cover of a Davido track caught the superstar’s attention, earning Mayorkun a spot on Davido’s DMW label.

From there, his career took off at full speed. In 2018, he dropped his acclaimed debut album, The Mayor of Lagos, solidifying his place among the top new-school artists shaping the Nigerian sound.
