Written by Ywaya Eugine Simon and Edgar Israel Onyach, and produced by RUN, “Lavender” showcases Watendawili’s signature storytelling style. The track is further elevated by live brass elements from Hornsphere, with mixing and mastering handled by Hendrrick Sam, giving it a polished and vibrant feel.
“Lavender” tells the story of a relationship strained by jealousy and misunderstanding, symbolized by a character who begins “crossing borders” and attracting attention at a social setting. As emotions rise, the song introduces the idea of reconciliation (patanisho), suggesting dialogue and understanding as the path forward. The blend of Swahili, Sheng, and Luo adds cultural depth, highlighted by the heartfelt line expressing love and the desire to fix things.
