Asake (born Ololade Ahmed-Asake) is a Nigerian singer and songwriter who has rapidly carved a niche for himself in the Afrobeats/afrofusion scene.
RELATED: Mohbad – Weekend
“Sunshine” fuses Afrobeats rhythms with amapiano and log-drum elements, and features a mix of English, Nigerian Pidgin and Yoruba. “Sunshine” is included in the album Work Of Art and was released around mid-June 2023.
At its heart, “Sunshine” is a message of hope and emergence. It acknowledges struggles, but affirms that brighter days are ahead (“the sun will shine on everything you do”). The song works as an encouragement to keep going, stay positive, and celebrate success when it arrives.
