MohBad (born Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba on January 3, 1996 in Ikorodu, Lagos, Nigeria) emerged as one of the raw voices of Nigerian street-pop and Afrobeat. He began his major exposure with the viral track “Ponmo” and the EP Light (2020).
RELATED: Fola – Golibe Ft Victony
The track blends Afrobeat rhythms with street-pop sensibilities: layered percussion, rhythmic hook lines in Yoruba and English, and vocals that swing between confident boss-mode and reflective hustle. The chorus asks “Ki lo de tẹ n pariwo?” (“Why are you shouting/noisy?”) and declares “Mi o dẹ lẹ pariwo” (“I won’t stop shouting/that noise”)—a metaphor for making one’s voice heard, refusing to stay silent.
“Pariwo” stands out as an anthem for the under-dog, the street-hustler and the un-silenced voice—it’s bold, unapologetic, yet carries undercurrents of prayer: the insistence on being heard and the refusal to be quiet.
