Jay was born on June 12, 1997, at Mwananyamala Hospital in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. He is the youngest child of Mr. and Mrs. Said Juma. His early education was at Muhalitani Primary School in Tandale, Dar es Salaam, from 2005 to 2011. He later attended Bunju A Secondary School, completing his education in 2015.
Career
Jay Melody entered the music industry in 2016 as a student at the Tanzania House of Talent (THT). After honing his skills for a year, he was signed by Epic Records Tanzania, a major label owned by entertainment mogul Ruge Mutahaba. Jay released his debut single “Goroka” and wrote “Kivuruge,” which he gifted to the artist Nandy. Upon release, it became a multi-national hit.
