Nigerian singer, songwriter, and model, Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, known professionally as Ayra Starr, came through with a brand new banger tagged Underwater. Underwater is a highly emotional track by Ayra Starr, featured on her debut studio album 19 & Dangerous, released in August 2021.

The song touches on themes of vulnerability, sadness, and the overwhelming feeling of being submerged in one’s emotions — as if you’re drowning. Ayra Starr herself said she freestyled Underwater in the middle of the night, around 2 AM, after dreams and emotions spilled over into inspiration. The next day, she headed into the studio to record it.
