Simi Stands Up for Natural Hair Against Preacher's Remarks

In a remarkable stance for self-love and acceptance, the renowned singer Simi has publicly criticized a female preacher’s disparaging comments about natural hair. The preacher suggested that women should abandon their natural hair for wigs to appear more appealing and find suitors. This message, which quickly spread online, caught Simi’s attention, prompting a strong response.

Simi took to her Twitter account to address the issue, expressing concern that such statements propagate self-hate among women. She highlighted the dangerous societal pressures that push many women towards skin lightening and away from embracing their natural beauty.

“Even when you hide self-hate inside ‘good advice’, it’s still self-hate. This is why 90% of skin care products in countries full of beautiful dark skin girls/women are ‘whitening creams’. And girls are told that the hair that grows out of their hair is not special enough,” Simi tweeted.

She criticized the preacher for misusing her influential position, emphasizing the impact such rhetoric can have on young women’s self-esteem. Simi urged people to stop enforcing arbitrary beauty standards and instead celebrate individuality.

Despite facing backlash from some quarters who accused her of hypocrisy for wearing a wig in her display picture, Simi held her ground. She reiterated that her stance wasn’t against personal style choices but against the narrative that women need to change to be considered attractive.

“Wear whatever tf you want. Just stop telling women that they’re not good enough as they are. And f**k you,” Simi boldly stated.
