Who is Tom Hanks?

Tom Hanks is an American actor, producer, and director, best known for his roles in films such as Forrest Gump, Saving Private Ryan, and the Toy Story franchise. He was born on July 9, 1956, in Concord, California.

Tom Hanks Acting Career

Hanks began his acting career in the 1970s, appearing in small roles in television shows and films. In 1984, he landed his first leading role in the romantic comedy Splash, which helped to establish him as a prominent actor in Hollywood. He went on to star in a number of other films, including Big, A League of Their Own, and Sleepless in Seattle.

In 1994, Hanks received widespread critical acclaim and numerous award nominations for his role in Forrest Gump, which went on to win the Academy Award for Best Picture. He also won the Best Actor Academy Award for his role in Philadelphia (1993) and Forrest Gump (1994).

In the following years, Hanks continued to act in successful films such as Saving Private Ryan (1998), Cast Away (2000), Catch Me If You Can (2002), and The Terminal (2004). He also lent his voice to the Toy Story franchise, playing the character of Woody.

In addition to his film career, Hanks has also been involved in producing and directing, including the HBO miniseries “From the Earth to the Moon” which he also served as an executive producer and won the Primetime Emmy award for it. He has also received numerous awards and honors throughout his career, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2016.
