Stephen King Biography
King was born in Portland, Maine in 1947. He grew up in a small town called Durham and was the second son of Donald and Nellie Ruth King. He began writing at a young age and wrote his first short story at the age of seven. He attended the University of Maine, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in English. He later worked as a teacher and wrote short stories in his free time.
King’s first novel, “Carrie,” was published in 1974 and became an instant success. This was followed by a string of successful novels, including “Salem’s Lot,” “The Shining,” “The Stand,” “The Dead Zone,” and “Firestarter.” His novel “It” was published in 1986 and became one of his most popular books.
In addition to writing novels, King has also written several novellas, short stories, and non-fiction works. He has also written several screenplays and has had several of his novels adapted into movies and television shows.
King has received numerous awards throughout his career, including the Bram Stoker Award, the World Fantasy Award, and the O. Henry Award. He has also been inducted into the Horror Writers Association Hall of Fame and the Science Fiction and Fantasy Hall of Fame.
