Chris Pine is an American actor. He was born on August 26, 1980, in Los Angeles, California. Pine’s father, Robert Pine, is an actor who is best known for playing Sergeant Joseph Getraer on the television series CHiPs. His mother, Gwynne Gilford, is a former actress.

Pine began acting in high school, and later attended the University of California, Berkeley, where he studied English. After college, he moved to New York City to pursue an acting career. He made his acting debut in an episode of the television series ER.
