Cameroonian Afro-pop and Makossa artist Ulanda, known affectionately as “Mama Makossa,” drops her vibrant single “Mon Mari”, released June 2, 2023.

The track is part of her debut EP Making Mama Makossa and continues Ulanda’s bold mission of carving space for women’s voices in the Cameroonian music scene. Ulanda has steadily grown in recognition for bringing socially-conscious lyrics to Makossa and Afro-pop sounds—ensuring her impact goes beyond the dancefloor.

“Mon Mari” addresses the too-often silenced issue of domestic violence. Ulanda uses the song to break down cultural stigmas and assert: there is no justification for abuse in relationships.
