Sarah Michael Kitinga, better known by her stage name Phina (formerly Saraphina), was born in 1996 in Bariadi, Tanzania. She started singing at a young age in choirs and competing in karaoke contests, and in 2018 she won Bongo Star Search, launching her into the limelight.

On October 3, 2025, Phina released her highly anticipated EP Melanin Therapy — a compact, soulful project composed of 5 tracks with a total running time of about 15 minutes. The EP is released under Ziiki Media and places Phina’s artistry at the forefront.
With Melanin Therapy, Phina weaves together influences from Bongo Flava, Afro-Pop, and R&B, showcasing her vocal range, emotional nuance, and personal storytelling. At its core, the EP is about healing, self-love, resilience, and embracing one’s identity — particularly one’s melanin and roots.
The EP marks a matured Phina — her lyrics feel more introspective, her melodies more assured, and her production more polished. The balance between upbeat tracks and mellow ballads gives listeners both danceable energy and intimate moments.
