“Yé ké Yé Ké” is an iconic song by the late Guinean musician Mory Kanté. Released in 1987 from his album “Akwaba Beach,” it became an unprecedented global hit, particularly in Europe, making it one of the first truly successful African crossover tracks to dominate international pop charts.

Mory Kanté (1950-2020) was a renowned Guinean vocalist and kora player. He came from a long line of Mandinka griots (hereditary praise singers and storytellers) and was steeped in traditional West African music.
