Kenyan music legend Freshley Mwamburi, affectionately known as Kazi Ngoma, makes a powerful comeback with the remix of his timeless hit “Stella Wangu.” Kicking off the New Year with a surprise release, the Rhumba icon unveils a stunning new visual interpretation of the classic that has lived in the hearts of Kenyans for decades.

Originally released in 1992, Stella Wangu became an unforgettable anthem, capturing a poignant love story that resonates deeply with fans across generations. Every May 17th, Kenyans unite to reflect on this emotional ballad—an unofficial national holiday for lovers of great Kenyan music.

The remix music video, shot at the scenic Golden Palm Hotel in Kenol and various picturesque locations across Kenya, showcases the country’s rich beauty while breathing new life into the nostalgic track. It’s a perfect blend of tradition and modern flair.

Directed by the talented Eric Ahoy (aka Mtu Cinema) and co-produced with DJ Qariz, the video features dynamic choreography by renowned Kenyan dancer Arthur Chiluba. The production was made possible by Engineer Njau Njoka, who not only funded the project but also led the audition process to assemble the perfect cast. His mission? To reintroduce Freshley Mwamburi to a new generation and empower his continued journey in music.

Freshley Mwamburi, born November 7, 1958, in Wundanyi, Taita, began his music career in the early 1980s. Influenced by legends like Franklin Boukaka, Mwamburi rose to fame with Stella Wangu, which propelled him into the East African spotlight throughout the ’90s.
