The Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, is in critical condition after being shot in the stomach and arm by a 71-year-old assailant. The shocking incident occurred in Handlovรก, northeast of Bratislava, following a government meeting.
Fico, 59, was greeting supporters outside the House of Culture when the gunfire erupted. The assailant, identified by local news site Pluska as Juraj C., was quickly subdued by security officials as he attempted to flee the scene.
