The group, formed in 2017, initially started as a trio with members Miracle Baby, Qoqos Juma, and Lexxy Yung. They later expanded to include Shalkido and Masilver, prompting a change in their name to Sailors to reflect their increased numbers. Each member brought something unique to the table, from representing different youth demographics to handling various roles within the group, such as hype man, lyricist, and handling hooks and choruses
