Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote has reclaimed his title as the richest person in Africa, surpassing South African business mogul Johann Rupert, according to the latest rankings by Forbes Real-Time Billionaires.

Forbes Daily, which closely monitors daily changes in the net worth of billionaires globally, reported that Dangote’s wealth surged from $9.5 billion to $10.4 billion, equivalent to approximately TZS 26.04 trillion, as of January 8, 2024. Meanwhile, Rupert’s net worth declined to $10 billion (TZS 25.03 trillion) from a previous TZS 26.8 trillion.
Dangote now ranks 191st among the world’s richest, with a significant portion of his fortune stemming from his 86% stake in Dangote Cement.
