Ray C Responds to Lady Jaydee’s Drug Abuse Remarks, Emphasizes God’s Unconditional Love and Her Journey to Motherhood

In a recent development in the Tanzanian music scene, veteran Bongo Flava artist Rehema Chalamila, popularly known as Ray C, responded to fellow musician Lady Jaydee’s statement regarding drug abuse. Lady Jaydee’s comment, which appeared to target veteran artist Chid Benz following his candid interview about his struggles despite his early 2000s hits, was posted on her X page.

Chid Benz had advised Lady Jaydee to start singing gospel music after her two decades in secular music. In what seemed like a response, Lady Jaydee expressed gratitude to God for saving her from the pitfalls of drug addiction that has ensnared many artists, including Chid Benz and Ray C.

“Nashukuru Mungu alinipa ujasiri wa kukabili mapito yangu bila kuingia kwenye biashara za kula Unga na kuanza kumlaumu kila mtu. Lord, I thank you,” she wrote, finishing her post with a thanksgiving emoji.

While many thought this statement was directed at Chid Benz, Ray C surprisingly responded to Jaydee, emphasizing that despite being looked down upon for her drug addiction, she is now a mother and firmly believes that God does not discriminate, loving all His children equally, whether they are drug users or not.

“Pamoja na yote niliyopitia Mungu wangu hakusita kuniinua tena na kunipa zawadi juu leo hii Naitwa MAMA😍.I thank you God..Funzo……Mungu ni wetu sote,” Ray C commented on an Instagram post by broadcaster Millard Ayo, who had shared Jaydee’s statement.

Ray C, who recently disclosed the birth of her first child, has had a long history of battling drug addiction, which significantly affected her music career. Her response reflects her journey towards recovery and the gratitude she holds for her newfound role as a mother.
