Kim shared the backstory during a casual conversation with her hairstylist, Chris Appleton. She initially joked about getting matching tattoos but quickly recalled that she already had one, a memento from a significant night in 2021 – hosting Saturday Night Live (SNL).
During the SNL after-party, in a moment of celebration with her friends, Kim decided to get inked. She said, “The night of SNL, when I hosted, me and my friends all got matching tattoos, and everyone got them on their hands. I was like if there’s not a shot, I will get a tattoo.”
Kim’s choice of location for her tattoo is as unique as it is hidden. She often forgets its existence until moments of dental hygiene remind her. “Every once in a while, I’ll be flossing my teeth and I’ll see black and go ‘What’s this black line?’ Then I’ll be like, ‘Oh, it’s my tattoo,” she explained.
Though Kim claimed the process of getting the tattoo didn’t hurt, she humorously admitted to having her fists clenched throughout the session.
