In a significant development for Tanzanian boxing, the Tanzania Professional Boxing Regulatory Commission (TPBRC) has lifted the suspension of renowned boxer Hassan Mwakinyo, reinstating his freedom to compete.

Mwakinyo faced a year-long suspension and a fine of one million Tanzanian shillings after failing to participate in a scheduled fight on September 29 against Namibian boxer Julius Indongo. The boxer, also known as Champez, had refused to enter the ring, citing discrepancies between the fight’s organization and the agreements made prior.

In a heartfelt expression of gratitude, Mwakinyo took to social media to extend his thanks. He first acknowledged Allah for granting him wisdom, patience, and perseverance throughout this challenging time. His message also conveyed deep appreciation to his fans for their unwavering support.

Significantly, Mwakinyo expressed his gratitude towards the government under President Samia Suluhu Hassan, specifically thanking the National Sports Council led by Minister Ndumbaro and the Deputy Minister for upholding justice and equality in sports. He emphasized his eagerness to return to the ring, promising to showcase his exceptional boxing skills and intelligence.

“Can’t wait to show quality boxing, high skills, and ring IQ 🤗🤗. This era is the Coloradoking era… shout out to all my Mogadishu family,” Mwakinyo wrote.

This development marks a new chapter for Mwakinyo and Tanzanian boxing. With his suspension lifted, the boxing community eagerly awaits his return to the ring, where he is expected to continue his impressive career.

The lifting of Mwakinyo’s suspension is not just a victory for the boxer but a testament to the sports authorities’ commitment to fairness and the support of the Tanzanian government in nurturing and protecting its sports talent.
