Knowing how to transfer data from iPhone to iPhone is super important if you’re an owner of one of Apple’s phones. Whether you’ve just changed contracts and got your hands on a brand new iPhone 14 Pro, or you’ve inherited an older model like the iPhone 13 Pro Max, you’ll need to know how to move all your existing data to your new device.

Prepare your iPhone to transfer data
With iOS 15, Apple introduced a feature that makes transferring data from iPhone to iPhone even easier. It’s called Prepare for New iPhone, and it gives free temporary storage space in iCloud for 21 days to make the process as painless as possible.
- First, go to Settings and tap General. Then scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap Transfer or Reset iPhone.

- The Prepare for New iPhone feature will be available at the top of the screen. Tap Get Started.

You may then be asked to tap Turn on Backup to Transfer (unless iCloud Backup is already turned on). Select Move All App Data with iCloud and tap Done. Apps and data will start to upload to iCloud. You can check on the backup progress on the main Settings screen.
How to transfer data from iPhone to iPhone
Quick Start occupies both devices, so make sure that you choose a time when you won’t need to use your current device for several minutes.

- Turn on your new device and place it near your current device. Follow the onscreen instructions to get started. If the prompt to set up your new device disappears from your current device, restart both devices.
- Connect your device to Wi-Fi or your device’s cellular network.
- You might be asked to activate your cellular service.
- Set up Face ID or Touch ID.
- Choose how you want to transfer your data.
- If you download from iCloud, your apps and data download in the background so that you can start using your new device right away.
- If you transfer directly from your previous device, you’ll need to wait for the transfer to complete on both devices before you can use them.
- Keep your devices near each other and plugged in to power until the data migration process is complete. Transfer times can vary based on factors such as network conditions and the amount of data being transferred.
