LOUIS VUITTON

Louis Vuitton was a French entrepreneur born in 4th August, 1821 in France who found the iconic fashion house that carries his name. He lost his parents when he was 10 and then ran away to Paris where he gained repute as a box maker.

The brand which is today one of the world’s leading international fashion houses, operates in 50 countries with more than 460 stores worldwide. Vuitton the designer hailed from a family of humble means and rose to become one of the most famous names in the world of luxury goods through his ingenuity, creativity, and sheer hard work. Born to working-class parents in rural 19th-century, he was expected to make a living as a carpenter, joiner, or farmer. He express his creativity and soon he established a reputation for himself as one of Paris’ most fashionable box-makers. Eventually, he went on to found the Louis Vuitton label in 1854 which became immensely popular within a few years. He managed the company until his death in February 27, 1892.

GUCCIO GUCCI

Guccio Gucci was a famous fashion designer from Florence, Italy, and the founder of the world-renowned fashion brand ‘Gucci. He was born in March 26, 1881. His father was a humble leather craftsman. Guccio traveled to Paris and London to make a living. There, he was greatly influenced by the sophistication and style that he saw while working as a lift boy at the ‘Savoy Hotel. He returned to Italy and started helping his father make saddles and leather travel bags. He founded ‘Gucci’ as a family business and successfully combined the sophistication he had witnessed abroad with the craftsmanship of Italy. His brand became famous soon, and people from all over the world came to Florence to purchase items from him.

He expanded his business to Rome and involved his sons in running the company. Even after his death, the business spread its wings and ‘Gucci’ became a leading brand. The overall management of the firm was transferred to his son Rodolfo and then to his grandson Maurizio. The company soon became a public limited company. Ultimately, it became a fully public company. ‘Gucci’ is now regarded as one of the world’s most desirable luxury brands. He died in January 2, 1953.

CHRISTIAN DIOR

He was born in Granville, January 21, 1905. The brand Christian Dior personifies elegance, innovation, and ingenuity. A leader in the world of haute-couture, the House of Dior is one of the biggest names in the world of fashion, and much credit for everything that the brand reckons with goes to its founder, the legendary fashionista and fashion designer – Christian Dior. The man who envisioned it all, Christian Dior was a great dictator of style and fashion. His ensembles proudly affirm the glory of his artistic vision and his love for fashion.

Dior came up with his iconic fashion house at a time when the world was still reeling under the challenges of World War II. Dior’s infinitely feminine collection, though criticized earlier, became the talk of the town in no time. Though he designed under his own name for only a decade, his influence continues to reign and shall be felt for many more decades to come. Died in October 23, 1957

Donatella Versace is an Italian fashion designer. As the younger sister of Gianni Versace, Donatella served as his adviser and inspiration when he was still a budding designer. When Gianni Versace, who eventually became a famous designer, started his own fashion company in Milan, she was there by his side and organized many fashion shows and advertising campaigns. When Donatella wanted her own line, Gianni gifted her the popular diffusion line, ‘Versus.’ After Gianni’s murder, the ‘Versace empire fell upon hard times and she became the creative director of ‘The Versace Group.

It was during the rebuilding process that Donatella showed her other talent – public relations. With the help of her long list of celebrity friends, which includes Madonna, Demi Moore, and Elton John, she began to popularize the ‘Versace brand. GIANNI MARIA VERSACE

Gianni Maria Versace was an Italian fashion designer born in December 2, 1946 Reggio Calabria Italy, especially known for his bold style and flashy designs. Raised in the metropolitan city of Reggio Calabria, he grew up watching his mother designing clothes and running a successful fashion business. It must have influenced him greatly because he started apprenticing under her soon after leaving school and by the age of twenty-six left home to work as a freelance designer in Milan.

Within a year, he became known for his excellent designs and buoyed by his success opened his own establishment at the age of thirty-one, presenting his first signature collection for women in the same year. Going against the prevailing trend of muted colors and simplistic designs, he began using bright colors, bold prints, and sexy cuts. Very soon, he also started using unusual materials like aluminum mesh and innovative skills like laser technology to fuse leather and rubber, becoming an international celebrity within a short span of time. He did not live to enjoy his success for long. In 1997 he was assassinated at his very doorstep at the age of fifty.
