SABAH SALUM
Sabah Salum Muchacho, born Sabah Khamis Said Bagmesh, is a legendary Tanzanian Taarab singer and composer widely known as the “Queen of Melodies.” Active since the early 1980s, she rose through groups such as Mamesh, East African Melody, and Zanzibar Stars Modern Taarab before building a respected independent career. Sabah Salum Muchacho is known for classic Taarab songs such as “Fimbo ya Mungu,” “Mlango wa Mungu Uwazi,” “Debe Tupu,” “Sibadiliki,” and “Yalaiti” featuring Alikiba. With her powerful voice, poetic Swahili lyrics, and long-standing influence, she remains one of the most respected female artists in Tanzanian Taarab music.
