Kenyan music group MAKAMANDA returns with “East,” a new Hip-Hop and Rap project released in May 2026. The title track stands as part of the group’s latest major release, highlighting their growing presence in the East African music scene.

Based primarily in Mombasa, Kenya, MAKAMANDA is a collective known for blending Hip-Hop, Rap, Street Bangers, and coastal-inspired sounds. The group is associated with Kubwa Studios, and their music often carries strong coastal rhythms, sharp rap delivery, and what they describe as “coastal barz.”
The “East” project reflects MAKAMANDA’s regional identity, celebrating the sound, energy, and culture of the East African coast. Through its street-focused production and confident lyrical style, the album positions the group as one of the rising voices pushing a fresh coastal wave in Kenyan urban music.
The release has also gained attention through TikTok, where MAKAMANDA promoted the audio rollout on Spotify and other digital platforms, helping the project reach more listeners across the region.
