Kenyan singer-songwriter Njerae teams up with Kenyan-American rapper and singer KayCyy on “On My Own,” an Afro-Pop collaboration built around love, disappointment, and choosing yourself when a relationship becomes emotionally draining.

Produced by Vic West, the track was released on August 21, 2026, alongside “Let Them Know” through Universal Music Kenya. The collaboration brings Njerae’s smooth, emotionally direct delivery together with KayCyy’s melodic rap approach, giving the record two perspectives on a relationship that is beginning to fall apart.
Lyrically, “On My Own” focuses on an inconsistent partner who spreads personal business, refuses to listen, and only reaches out when loneliness sets in. Instead of continuing the cycle, Njerae reaches the point where protecting her peace and moving forward alone becomes the better choice.
The song has now received an official music video, released on September 18, 2026. Directed by Natasha Ayoo, the cinematic visual stars Kenyan actors Brahim Ouma and Red Brenda, bringing the relationship tension and emotional distance at the center of the song to life.
