The song was recorded several months before its official release, with Gody Tennor later completing and releasing it following Stoopid Boy’s sudden passing. The decision to release the track as a tribute generated discussion after MASAUTI clarified that the recording had originally been made about five months earlier. Gody Tennor subsequently apologized to MASAUTI for releasing the finished song without informing him beforehand.
“Hatutakusahau,” also distributed on some platforms as “Hatujakusahau,” carries a message of remembrance and paying tribute to those who are no longer here. The song uses music as a way of keeping the memories of fallen artists alive within Kenya’s vibrant urban music community. Its release therefore carries a deeper emotional significance beyond its musical collaboration.
Musically, the track brings together the energetic character of Gengetone and Arbantone with the smoother influence of Swahili R&B. Gody Tennor’s urban delivery is complemented by MASAUTI’s melodic vocal approach, creating a distinctive blend of contemporary Kenyan sounds. The combination gives the tribute an emotional yet modern musical identity.
The official release was published and distributed through Gody Tennor Music, with the track available on major digital platforms. “Hatutakusahau” stands as a heartfelt tribute to Stoopid Boy and a reminder of the lasting impact artists can leave on their communities. Through the collaboration, Gody Tennor and MASAUTI bring remembrance and contemporary Kenyan music together in one release.
