Officially released on September 11, 2026, through Ziiki Media, the track was produced by renowned WCB Wasafi producer Lizer Classic, bringing together Chege’s distinctive storytelling style and Mbosso’s emotional, melodic delivery.
“Ubaya” tells the story of love, heartbreak, consequences and someone returning after experiencing disappointment elsewhere. Rather than responding to past pain with revenge, the song carries a mature message summed up by its memorable refrain: “Ubaya silipizi ubaya” — choosing not to repay wrongdoing with wrongdoing.
Mbosso opens the record by painting an emotional picture of someone returning wounded and exhausted after a difficult relationship, while Chege continues the story with reflections on how circumstances can change and how love, money and betrayal can complicate relationships.
With its relatable storyline, catchy chorus and the chemistry between two established Bongo Flava voices, “Ubaya” stands out as an emotional collaboration built around forgiveness, consequences and moving forward.
