Kenyan hip-hop artist Virusi Mbaya teams up with Komanda Flaco on “Maombi Though,” a gritty Swahili Hip-Hop / Boom-Bap / Street Rap track that blends raw storytelling with themes of faith, survival, and resilience. The collaboration captures the realities of navigating hardship while holding on to prayer and hope.

Released as part of Virusi Mbaya’s Matenjagwo studio album in August 2026, “Maombi Though” was independently distributed through DistroKid. The track features production from an independent Nairobi hip-hop producer and street engineer, while the visuals were handled by Virusi Mbaya’s visual team alongside independent Nairobi street videographers.
Lyrically, “Maombi Though” explores the role of prayer when life becomes difficult. Virusi Mbaya and Komanda Flaco reflect on hardship, faith, survival, and the determination to keep moving forward despite the challenges faced by young people in Nairobi’s informal settlements.
