Officially released on August 7, 2026, the song was written by Herman Mchome, composed and produced by Fredrick Japhet Kilago (Masanja), and recorded live in an atmosphere of authentic worship. The title “Rafiki,” which means “Friend” in Swahili, reminds believers that there is no friend more faithful than Jesus.
Blending Swahili, Zulu, and English, the song unites East and Southern African worship traditions in one joyful declaration of God’s love, faithfulness, and constant presence. Its message encourages listeners to trust Christ through every season, knowing He is our Father, our Light, our Rock, and the Friend who never leaves us.
Musically, “Rafiki” features an energetic Jazz Gospel arrangement with a full live band, vibrant choir vocals, and the powerful brass sound of JTL Horns. The production is complemented by Johnson Amigo’s visual direction under Victorious Production (Tanzania), delivering an uplifting worship experience filled with praise and thanksgiving.
