Released in August 2026, Chapa Ilale brings together the coastal energy of Mombasa and Nairobi’s vibrant street-music scene. The collaboration blends Gengetone, street-pop and hip-hop, driven by hard-hitting percussion, fast-paced verses and the playful Sheng wordplay associated with Kenya’s urban sound.
Produced by Mumo Beats, the song was written and composed by Makamanda, Joefes and Exray Taniua. Each artist brings a distinct delivery to the record, with Makamanda matching the established street flows of Joefes and Exray to create a lively collaboration built for parties, clubs and high-energy playlists.
The phrase “Chapa Ilale” carries a playful street meaning centred around going all out and keeping the energy alive. That attitude runs throughout the record as the artists trade confident bars over an infectious beat.
