The track was released on April 19, 2013, as the 10th track on their studio album Itotolozi. Running for approximately 6 minutes and 4 seconds, the song was released under Gallo Record Company.
Musically, “Qeluka Nduna” embraces the traditional Maskandi sound, featuring intricate acoustic guitar picking, rhythmic basslines, and call-and-response vocal harmonies. The arrangement maintains the raw, organic character associated with classic Zulu folk music.
The song also reflects the socially conscious character that has long been associated with Izingane Zoma, whose music has explored subjects including leadership, social justice, politics, and cultural identity. The word “Nduna” refers to a traditional leader, headman, or commander, giving the title a strong cultural and leadership context.
