Rising Kenyan artist Kapitani has released a brand new hip-hop single titled “Niwashe.” The track carries a strong Swahili / Sheng Hip-Hop sound with a Nairobi street-drill feel.

Officially released on April 23, 2026, “Niwashe” was written by Martin Nduati, produced by Capo To Di Top, and released under 10312829 Records DK. The song runs for 2 minutes and 40 seconds.
The title “Niwashe” can be translated as “Light me up” or “Ignite me.” In the song, Kapitani uses the phrase to bring out themes of ambition, hustle, confidence, and the drive to earn respect in the music scene.
With its sharp delivery and street-focused energy, “Niwashe” adds to Kapitani’s growing presence in the Eastlands hip-hop scene, showing his voice as one of the new names pushing Kenyan urban rap forward.
