Tanzanian Bongo Flava artist Dogo Janja, whose real name is Abdulaziz Abubakari Chende, steps into a new chapter with “Mr. Councillor Janjaro,” a title that reflects both his music identity and his growing role in public leadership.

Known by fans as Janjaro, Dogo Janja has long been recognized as one of Tanzania’s familiar voices in Bongo Flava and hip-hop. In recent years, he has expanded his public profile beyond music, becoming active in politics and community representation.
In December 2025, Dogo Janja was publicly reported as having been sworn in as Councillor of Ngarenaro Ward in Arusha, following his run under the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) ticket. Ngarenaro is also closely connected to his identity, as he has often referenced the area in his music and public image.
The title “Mr. Councillor Janjaro” captures this dual identity — an artist who remains connected to entertainment while also carrying a civic role. Despite his political responsibilities, Dogo Janja has continued releasing music, including “Sio Siri,” a 2026 Amapiano single listed on Apple Music under Ziiki Media.
During his 2025 campaign period, Dogo Janja was also mentioned in reports surrounding a shooting incident in Arusha. Police said investigations were ongoing, while reports stated that suspects had been arrested and that the circumstances were still being examined.
Through “Mr. Councillor Janjaro,” Dogo Janja represents a rare blend of music, youth influence, and local leadership, showing how artists can continue shaping culture while stepping into wider community responsibilities.
