The audio for “Tilalila” was officially released on August 27, 2020, while the official music video followed on September 25, 2020. The song runs for approximately 2 minutes and 45 seconds, was produced by Mafia, and the video was directed by Kwetu Studio Travella.
In “Tilalila,” Kayumba sings about how love has changed from the old, simple way into a more complicated digital lifestyle. Through playful but emotional lyrics, he reflects on cheating, false relationship claims, social pressure, and the feeling of being left behind in modern romance.
The song’s message is built around lines like “mapenzi yame updatiwa”, meaning love has been updated, and the idea that “kucheat imekua fashion,” suggesting that cheating has become common in today’s relationships. With humor and frustration, Kayumba turns heartbreak into a catchy and relatable Bongo Flava moment.
Kayumba first gained national attention after winning Bongo Star Search (BSS) and has since become known for his soulful voice and popular songs such as “Wasi Wasi,” “Mama,” and “Malaika” featuring Aslay.
